Built by students, for students.
student2student began with Xavier Kuruc and a simple observation: the people who helped him most weren't the ones who knew the most, but the ones who'd been stuck on the same problem not long before. This is how that idea became a business, and why it's about much more than marks.
It began with being the student who didn't get it.
Xavier knew the feeling of sitting in class while everyone else seemed to understand, and of being too nervous to put a hand up.
What got us through wasn't a lecture. It was an older student who sat down, said “I found this confusing too”, and walked him through it in plain language.
What if that was the whole model?
Tutoring too often meant a stranger and a worksheet. Xavier wanted something that felt closer to a good older sibling: patient, relatable, and honest about how hard learning can be.
So he set out to match students with tutors who had recently sat the same exams, studied the same subjects and remembered exactly where the tricky parts were.
Starting small, and learning fast.
We kept it small on purpose, so we could sit in, listen, and get things wrong while the stakes were low.
Every mistake went back into how we choose, train and support our tutors.
The marks improved. The confidence changed first.
Within a few weeks we noticed something we hadn't planned for. Before results moved, students started asking better questions. They stopped apologising for not knowing. They began trying a problem before turning to the tutor.
That shift, from waiting to be told to working it out, is what we now care about most. Good results follow from it, and the habit stays with a student long after the exam.
Our message, our vision, our mission.
Our message
You don't have to be the smartest in the room. You have to be willing to ask.
Struggling is part of learning, not a sign you're bad at it. We want every student to feel safe saying “I don't get this yet”.
Our vision
Students who believe in themselves and know how to learn.
We picture a generation of students who walk into an exam, a new school or a hard topic with confidence, because they've done hard things before and know how to begin.
Our mission
Peer-to-peer tutoring that builds understanding, confidence and independence.
We pair students with relatable tutors who help them master challenging concepts, then gradually step back as the student takes the lead.
A tutoring business, and a venture in confidence.
student2student is a business, and we run it like one: reliable, well organised and accountable to families. But the reason we do it is bigger than a timetable of sessions.
We want every student who works with us to leave with something they can keep: the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems, and the self-study habits to keep going without us. A tutor who is still needed after two years has, in a way, not finished the job.
How we build self-study habits
Try first
Students attempt a problem before we step in, so the thinking stays theirs.
Explain it back
Teaching the idea in their own words shows what they truly understand.
Plan the week
Small, regular study blocks beat last-minute cramming, and we help set them up.
Celebrate the effort
Progress is noticed and named, so confidence grows alongside the marks.
